James Russell Lowell said, "It is the privilege of genius that life never grows common place, as it does for the rest of us." If this is true, I think it is not genius that is rare or forgotten; it is the way to make use of it amid our routines.

This cracks me up. I suspect it's not actually funny. I have a hunch that I'm wearing down a bit under the stress of dealing with an entire region hopped up on storm hysteria. If I could get my hands on that weather man that made the news commercial tonight where he said, "Could Sandy be the worst storm we have EVER seen?? Stay tuned," I would punch him in the nose. But even so, this cracks me up. I was scrolling through the predictions, hour by hour, with the background and text colors changing to emphasize the SQUALLS, and then in the middle of it appears a link for kids lunch recipes. Also I'd like to immortalize the forecasters giving a 100% chance of rain. I didn't know they knew how to say "100%".
I returned from CA with a few post cards and one item that inspired that same sort of excitement when I found it. It's a chunk of a redwood burl, sustainably harvested, purchased at Muir Woods.
Here's the finished skein etsybtsy made from a pound of cream churro wool and some easter egg dye tablets. To see some of her other skeins, check out her etsy shop.
